A list of albums that sound more like the suburbs than The Suburbs

  1. the Hold Steady, Boys and Girls in America
  2. Fucked Up, David Comes to Life
  3. Less than Jake, Hello Rockview! (though this is somewhat cheating, as it applies to anyone with a hometown I'm guessing)
  4. Jimmy Eat World, Bleed American
  5. Wormrot, Dirge
  6. Spoon, Kill the Moonlight
  7. Black Dahlia Murder, Miasma
  8. Elvis Costello & the Attractions, Armed Forces
  9. 10cc, The Original Soundtrack

What's missing?

Anything Motion City Soundtrack. The Snake, The Cross, The Crown: Like a Moth Before a Flame. Those always remind me of the burbs. Other than that I got nothing, but I could make a hole list of things that remind me of New Jersey, and not that privileged, orange, asshole, Jersey shore kind of New Jersey. For some reason the burbs and Jersey fit together some how on my musical Venn Diagram.

I considered "Commit this to Memory," particularly for "LGFUAD" and "Attractive Today." The Mander Salis album sounded like hicks dealing with the burbs, so I can particularly relate to that. New Jersey is 100% metropolitan, I believe they're burbs by default.
